About Me
I am a painter, writer, zine creator, and bone-collector in the Boston area. I have spent hours walking on beaches in sunshine, rain, and snow, and it would please me to do that every day till the end of time.
The paintings you find here are each a tiny love letter to the Earth.
The dream of my life
Is to lie down by a slow river
And stare at the light in the trees–
To learn something by being nothing
A little while but the rich
Lens of attention.

About the Paintings
I paint in traditional gouache on watercolor paper as well as acrylic gouache on canvas or wood. I draw inspiration from the natural world, and often return to the same subject over and over.
Landscapes are not traditionally painted as miniatures, but I love the intimacy of small works and I love the New England coast. When you create something small, you invite the viewer in; you say, “take a moment to look a little closer.”
My subjects are vast — the ever-changing Atlantic, the Rocky Mountains, entire ecosystems on this life-giving Earth — and yet I want to hold them in my hands, not as an act of possession, but as an act of intimacy: like a tiny photo in a locket, like a little love note.

Considering the small scale of my work, I will not be making prints of the miniatures at this time. My paintings are also accessibly priced so that everyone may own an original. If you like a painting that has sold, I can create something similar for you as a commission!

Traditional gouache is similar to watercolor, but with larger pigment particles. It is very opaque and matte, and generally used on watercolor paper. These paintings must be framed behind glass in order to protect them from moisture and humidity, as the paint can be reactivated by water. (Don’t place your artwork in front of the glass. If you want to avoid reflections, glare-resistant glass is available at frame shops, and is less expensive at these small sizes.)
Acrylic gouache is an acrylic paint that mimics the creaminess and matte texture of traditional gouache without being reactivated by water. This makes it versatile to work on paper and other surfaces. Acrylic gouache paintings on canvas or wood may be hung on their own, without glass. (Some people on the internet get mad that this is called “gouache” at all, when the binder is acrylic. It is called acrylic gouache because of the pigment particle size and load, but if it pleases you to just call it “acrylic,” that’s ok too!) -
Matting or mat board is a thick paper stock used to border artwork and protect it within a frame. Most importantly, it keeps the painting from touching the glass (and these paintings do require glass), but it also creates a margin allowing the painting to fit easily into a standard frame. This is why the mat margins vary on my paintings. Mats are only for paintings on paper, not stretched canvas or cradled wood.
I use a 4-ply, conservation quality (acid and lignin free) mat board in a soft, natural white. All mats are custom cut to fit the art with a beveled inner window and fit into an off-the-shelf frame.
